The city of Izumo, which is the birthplace of Syunichi Nakata, the founder of Platinum Pen, is a very picturesque city with a mysterious history. It is the home of the Izumo-Taisha, the most important Shinto Shrine in Japan, where all the Shinto gods in Japan are supposed to go when they have their yearly meeting. The history of Urushi lacquer goes back to the Stone Age. The timeless art of Urushi has for centuries brought to life the intricate depth of Japanese history and culture. Numerous coats of hand-applied lacquering performed by experienced craftsmen create a vivid, beautiful Urushi lacquer finish. The red and green models have only a hint of those colors when the pen is brand new, but with usage, more of the color will become apparent and this oversized pen will increase in beauty over time. Cartridge/Converter fill, 18kt gold nib, available in M, F and B widths.
